Contactless Clocking: Why Your District Needs It Moving Forward

“The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.”

- Center for Disease Control and Prevention

COVID-19 has thrown a wrench into most of our lives. This is especially true for school district employees who were some of the first to have to close up shop and transition to a fully remote approach.

States have yet to make the major decisions that will determine whether or not schools will be reopening this fall, but when they do, district staff will need safe and reliable methods of conducting their daily business - and that includes tracking their time and attendance!

(Unless you want to go back to employees tracking and submitting their own time… *shudder*)

Benefits of Going Contactless

Time clocks and the devices used for clocking in are some of the most used items in school districts.

Think about it, each employee has to physically interact with a device (unless you have a serious case of buddy-punching going on) multiple times each day to track their time, this opens up the door for all sorts of nasty stuff to be spread - including COVID-19.

It certainly doesn’t help that the coronavirus can live on metal, glass, and plastic for up to 5 days - exactly what time clocks happen to be made of...

So, we at Touchpoint have devised a clever few ways to help remedy this situation and ensure peace of mind for your staff in the form of contactless scanning methods!

Different Methods

First up to bat is our most popular method of clocking in, the proximity scanner. Simply swipe your badge past the scanner, and you’re ready to go!

What’s nice about the proximity cards is that if your district already has some, we can configure our units to work with them! If not, it’s no trouble to pick some up from us and keep your staff squared away.

(Plus, all of our methods are incredibly easy to implement.)

The runner-up in this contest is our barcode scanning solution. This has been a long-time favorite of school districts because of how easy it is to use - and - how easy it is to remain contactless

With an LED light, you also don’t have to worry about a shoddy print job or a dimly lit room before the main lights come on in the morning. Pop it under, hear that glorious sound of clocking success, and get to work with ease!

This quote from the CDC says it all, “Current evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials.”

To truly provide your staff with an environment that they will feel safe and comfortable in, you need to check all of the boxes. The coffee machine can’t be contactless, but time clocks sure can!
